Short Sleeve vs. Long Sleeve

A short sleeve rash guard gives full freedom of movement, without any fabric near the elbow or forearm — important for grip fighting and submissions. Short sleeves also breathe better, a real advantage in a hot gym. Under a gi jacket, a short sleeve rash guard adds almost no bulk.

Long sleeve rash guards cover more skin for better mat-burn protection and more grip friction, which some grapplers prefer for certain positions.

Fabric and Construction

A good custom rash guard uses a moisture-wicking polyester-spandex blend, commonly 75–80% polyester and 20–25% elastane. Compression fit matters for performance and comfort, and flatlock stitching at the seams prevents chafing.

Sizing

Standard adult sizing runs from XS through 4XL, with kids sizing typically covering ages 6 through 14. A rash guard should fit snugly — true compression fit, not loose.

Custom Design with Sublimation

Full sublimation printing is the standard, supporting unlimited colors and detailed graphics without cracking or peeling. For a full breakdown of the manufacturing process for a team-scale order, see our custom rash guard manufacturing guide.

Care Instructions

Wash in cold water, turn the garment inside out to protect the print, air-dry instead of using a machine dryer, and skip fabric softener. Washing promptly after training also matters for preventing skin infections.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is short sleeve or long sleeve better for BJJ?

Short sleeve offers more arm mobility and breathability. Long sleeve offers more skin coverage and grip friction. The right choice depends on your climate and training style.

What fabric is used in a custom short sleeve rash guard?

Most use a moisture-wicking polyester-spandex blend, typically around 75–80% polyester and 20–25% elastane, with flatlock stitching at the seams.

Can I order just one custom rash guard?

Yes — modern sublimation printing makes fully custom single-piece orders practical. For team-scale orders, standard MOQ and pricing tiers apply.
