Founder and head instructor Julio Cesar "Foca" Fernandez Nunes began training under Grand Master Carlson Gracie Sr. in Rio de Janeiro at age 17, and is certified by CBJJP, USBJJF and IBJJF as a 7th-degree Coral Belt, a five-time Brazilian national champion and two-time IBJJF World Champion.
